Ilwol Obongdo Fan & Handkerchief Set

Ilwol Obongdo Fan & Handkerchief Set

$65.00

The Ilwol Obongdo (Sun, Moon, and Five Peaks) is one of the most iconic subjects in Joseon royal court painting, symbolizing the king's authority, dignity, and the eternal prosperity of the dynasty. It was always placed behind the royal throne, and also displayed in halls housing royal portraits and ancestral tablets.

The painting is composed of a red sun, white moon, five mountain peaks, twin waterfalls, pine trees, and ocean waves — representing the harmony of nature and the cosmos. The most celebrated example stood behind the throne in Geunjeongjeon, the main hall of Gyeongbokgung Palace, making it the defining image of Joseon royal power.

This set is an Official K-Heritage Store product.
